Moong Lentils
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup moong lentils
- 2 cups water
Steps
- Rinse lentils and add to the pressure cooker with water
- Pressure cook for 5 minutes
Moong Dal Curry
Ingredients- 3 tomatoes
- 1 green chili
- 5 garlic cloves
- Moong Lentils (from above)
Spices
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 pinch asafetida
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp salt (optional)
- 1/2 tsp mango powder
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tsp crushed dry fenugreek leaves (you can use fresh if you have them)
- Grind the tomatoes, green chili, and garlic in a blender
- Heat up a pan and add the cumin seeds for about 30-60 seconds. It’ll slightly change color
- Add the tomato paste mixture
- Add the spices and lower to a slow flame, cook for 4 or 5 minutes
- Add the lentils with liquid
- Add more water as needed to get the right consistency (usually about 1 or 2 cups)
- Cook for another 1 or 2 minutes
