Ingredients
- 1 cup chana dal (split chickpea lentil) - wash
- 1 cup rice - wash
- 1.5 cup chopped potatoes
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 small ginger minced
- 5 cups water
Spices
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3 tsp Curry Powder (swap this with chana masala if you can find it)
- 4 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 tsp mango powder (tangy flavor, optional)
Steps
- heat up a pressure cooker on sauté, and toast cumin seeds
- add ginger and garlic, and a little water and water sauté them.
- add potatoes, stir it up and continue to water sauté for a minute
- add lentils, rice, and spices - stir completely
- add water and stir completely
- pressure cook for 20 minutes (or boil til soft)
enjoy (optionally top with cilantro)
