Simple Jeera (Cumin) Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 medium onions (chopped)
  • 2 potatoes (chopped and soak in water to keep from browning)
  • 1 cup of brown rice or par boiled rice and 3 cups of water (wash it first)

Spices:

  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • red chili (optional to taste if you want some heat)

Steps

  1. heat up the pressure cooker, add dry roast cumin seeds
  2. add onions and a little water to water sauté for 3 or 4 minutes
  3. add the potatoes (drained), and rice and mix
  4. add salt and 3 cups of water (brown rice only needs 2 cups)
  5. pressure cook for 15 minutes and let it release for 10 minutes
enjoy

Note - this is marked as a side dish because it goes so well with most any other dish.  You can eat it as a meal if you want.
